I really can’t explain the joy I feel when I get to spend time in nature. Buying a little campervan is one of the best choices I’ve made as it gives me the opportunity to work from a mobile studio and paint in unbelievably beautiful spots.

As I’m on the road I am working on a series of animal portraits, but as you know by now I don’t often - unless commissioned - paint animal portraits as they are, but with a little twist. In this case, and many others, they are hybrids! Sometimes with plants, sometimes with landscapes, and sometimes even with human-made device. These portraits are so much fun to make and I have noticed that it has made me look at details in a different way, as I now see little octopus in weeds growing from the rocks I climb, frog faces in mesmerizing flowers I pass while hiking through stunning landscapes and even little space ships in stink bugs crawling on my leg. What an underrated way to see the world!

Apart from getting to spend lots of time in nature, another thing I absolutely love when being on the road is the opportunities it opens up to arrange different events in places I pass. Right now I am painting these pieces for an exhibition in Copenhagen, where I’ll make a stop before going back to Sweden. As I am working on unstretched canvas I am excited to see how I eventually will display the finished work – I will let the road and time guide me! And of course I will keep you updated!
