Finally, my exhibition is up at the top of Svampen! On the 19th of February we put up pretty much everything from my studio on the walls of the restaurant and opened the doors for the vernissage basically as we were still hanging the last pieces!
What an intense day, thank goodness for having a partner who is more “do, think later” than I am. Though having about forty paintings to hang in one single room requires a bit of planning as well. So I suppose we make a good team!
We weren’t necessarily planning on putting everything available on the walls but before we knew it all the nails were already there! So, the paintings; up they went! Finally taking that first breath and step back for the entire day, my initial thoughts were “Oh boy that is a LOT” but it was slightly growing on me. Sometimes we say that “Less is more”, but as a dear friend visiting the exhibition said; sometimes “More is more”. And in this space, I might agree that it is a fitting philosophy. In a gallery however I might think slightly differently. The visitors will actually spend time here to have lunch (and even a buffet, that’s a good way to pass a lot of time) so there will be plenty to watch and time to entertain themselves during their stay!
So even though intense, it was a good day. I am so grateful for the people who showed up, shared their thoughts, bought my work and make it all worth it. Also, of course, a big thank you to Skybar Svampen for giving me the opportunity. Now all their visitors will be able to share a moment or two with my work for the upcoming future!
The exhibition will still be up probably until the summer - we haven't put an end date but there is still plenty of time to see it if you haven't yet!
