Last week on Thursday I joined Inre Natur in Örebro for their “Café evening”, a wonderful time set every Thursday evenings over a number of weeks for people to meet and connect new like-minded people, enjoy a fika and take part of a free meditation and sharing session. This last time for the season I was invited to add some creativity into the process!
We’ve planned for me to hold a workshop at their place mid June and thought it would be a perfect opportunity for their guests/friends to get to know me and my work and sprinkle a dose of inspiration over each other by being creative together! So we set up a drawing station. It was wonderful to see how quickly people sat down and let go of expectations and the blockage of needing to accomplish perfect results. My task for them was to draw forms and convert them into figures, which could be absolutely anything. Then challenged them to also keep drawing on their friends’ doodles, and soon two entire sheets were filled with everything from parachuting swans to surrealistic color bombs spreading over the white paper. I also don’t doubt that apart from art and an activated imagination – new friendships were formed as well!
So now after sharing with you that I was very happy to get to take part of this, I would like to invite you to join me for future workshops! The next one you can still sign up for at Inre Natur is on June 17th and 18th both days from 10:00 to 15:00. It’s a weekend workshop that will be completely focused on the imagination and creative mind. If these dates wouldn't suit your schedule, I will hold a similar workshops on August the 1st and 2nd!
When being young, and I suppose innocent, our imagination has no limits. Then we grow up and get a more educated knowledge and information about the world and social surroundings, which for the imagination is a bit of a challenge. All of a sudden we are aware of consequences, afraid to be judged by what others would think and are taught to do things in a certain way. Ending up with many of us slowly letting go of our imaginative side of mind. My goal with this course is to pick it back up and open up to see the world from another additional perspective, find new connections between “old things” and get inspired by daydreaming. We will be working mainly with acrylic painting, as we are aiming to create one final painting each to bring home with us, but will also spend an amount of time with useful drawing exercises to really awaken the imagination and think outside the box.
So who can sign up? Anyone, really! No matter of age nor previous experiences in painting. For those who want I will go through the basics of acrylic painting but mainly the course is focused on the mind and personal development through art. I will also give a slight introduction to surrealism and how to be observant to what isn't there (yet!).
